Rebel8 was founded in San Francisco in 2003; a truly unique company whose ethos is deeply rooted in incorporating original, authentic, hand-illustrated art-work into their clothing designs. They are proud to be one of the few internationally recognised brands that doesn’t use computers to enhance or manipulate any of the images featured in their product line. The results are truly original pieces, which resonate strongly with the individualistic mentality of the skateboarding, graffiti and tattoo cultures of which inspired them.

Rebel8 founder Joshy D. met Mike Giant in the late 1990’s, during which time graffiti was a thriving scene. Joshy D. was running a highly popular graffiti website ‘HiFiArt’ at the time, and Mike Giant had a somewhat notorious reputation as a writer. They bonded over their shared interests and mutual passion for the graffiti scene and several years later Josh approached Mike with the proposal that they start a T-shirt line. What began as a handful of designs subsidised by just $500, is now an internationally recognised brand.

Mike Giant is the man behind all the hand-illustrated artwork. His sheer passion and astonishing deftness of hand provides perfect testimony to why his reputation is verging on legendary status within the graffiti and tattoo artist communities.

They continue to stay true to their original ethos of artistic integrity and their unique approach to the creative process is refreshing in a market largely dominated by mass-production.
